Basilisk

Picture
Some believe that the Basilisk should be classed along with the Cockatrice, Phoenix, and Sea Serpent as a species of pseudo-dragon. Others consider it to be purely mythical, but all agree that, if encountered, it is dangerous in the extreme and should be treated as such.

The Basilisk can take the form of any other dragon or pseudo-dragon species. This, coupled with the fact that it has the most venomous bite of any creature, means that very few descriptions of the species exist, and those that do are entirely contradictory.

It is reputed to be frightened of chickens.
